In 1492 the Spanish king and queen signed on the Alhambra Decree which ordered the expulsion of all jews from Spain. This outfit embodies the richness of the "Sephardic Jews" culture flourishing in Spain for centuries, on one hand, and shows the brutality of the act and its historic period on the other.
